The much-awaited Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal has made its theatrical debut today, on December 1, and the response in advance booking has been nothing short of overwhelming. According to trade reports, the film has surpassed the advance booking figures of Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 and Hrithik Roshan’s War for its opening day.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X (formerly Twitter) and revealed the booking figures. According to his post, Animal has recorded 4.56 lakh bookings so far.

The advance bookings of Animal began on November 25. In its gross advance booking collections for the opening day, the film has surpassed Tiger 3 and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer, which is in 3rd spot, is just below Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan. Animal has minted Rs 17.60 crore in its gross advance booking collections for Day 1.

Social media users reacted to the figures and one of them called Animal a “Blockbuster movie.” Another predicted, “So Animal will do at least 500 crore ATB #AnimalReview.”

A person also mentioned, “Ranbir Kapoor ke career ki ab tak ki sabse badi film hogi ANIMAL,” while another said, “Animal will be a blockbuster movie.”

Meanwhile, Animal has crossed Rs 50 crore in terms of overall advance booking collections. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film revolves around a complex relationship between a businessman father, Balbir Singh and his son, Ranvijay. While Anil Kapoor plays the role of the father, Ranbir is the son. The film shows Ranvijay setting out to take revenge against the rival Abrar Haque following a tragedy in his family.

During a pre-release event, Ranbir Kapoor spoke about how his collaboration with Sandeep Reddy Vanga began. “Sandeep reached out to me one day over text and asked to meet him. When I got the text, I thought it was a prank. But I went to meet him anyway. When we met, Sandeep showed me a photograph from the days when I was not working, when I used to play in the Celebrity Cricket League. “In that photograph, I am looking somewhere far away. He showed that photo and said I want you to do this film because I want the expression that you have in this picture. I said ‘Chalo, bekaari ke din kaam aa gaye (My days of unemployment were of some help after all)’. I love you Sandeep for giving me this opportunity,” Ranbir said.

Animal also features Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, Shakti Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi and Saurabh Sachdeva in pivotal roles. The flick hit theatres worldwide in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
