Babil Khan recalled Kay Kay Menon’s generosity and how he would always answer his questions about everything.

The Railway Men was recently released on Netflix, starring R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu and Babil Khan. The four-episode series is directed by debutant director Shiv Rawail. Set against the backdrop of the Bhopal Gas Leak, The Railway Men is a thrilling account of courage and a salute to humanity and bravery. During a recent interaction, Babil Khan, son of the late Irrfan, spoke about what it was like to work with Kay Kay Menon.

Babil said in an interview for Netflix, “Uss waqt papa passed away jab humne shooting shuru ki thi aur main bohot nervous tha Kay Kay sir ke saath acting karne main. Sir but… I just want to say ki humari bohot lambi aur hectic shoot hui thi. Kay Kay sir ke saath maine kaam kiya mujhe ek din aisa mehsoos nahi hua ki mere paas father nahi hai (My father passed away when we had started shooting and I was very nervous to act with Kay Kay sir. It was a long and hectic shoot. When I worked with him, I didn’t feel for a day that I don’t have a father).”

He added, “I swear and I really wanted to say this. I could ask him anything and he had to… mere kuch scenes the bohot hi emotional, he really needed to be there for those scenes. Main kyuki nalayak baccha tha main kuch bhi pooch leta tha sir se kabhi bhi aur voh itne generosity se mujhe har cheez ka jawab dete the aur phir jaake apna scene karte the. Mujhe ek second ke liye voh mehsoos nahi hua ki mere father nahi hain (I was naive so I asked him anything at any time and he answered with such generosity. I didn’t even feel for a second that I don’t have a father).”

The Railway Men offers a poignant narrative of the unsung heroes – the railway employees of India, who went beyond their call of duty, trying to save the lives of hundreds of innocent citizens trapped in a helpless city.
