LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers took social media by storm anew after reacting to a graphic post put up by SportsCenter on Friday, September 8, about the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The graphic was done by Dunk Central and put up by SportsCenter on Instagram, suggesting a potential Team USA roster for next year’s Summer Olympic games.

The four-time NBA champion replied to the post with an emoji, a reaction that had fans speculating that James would at least consider suiting up for Team USA at the Paris Olympics.

Aside from the 38-year-old player, other notable players that were in the graphic include Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, and Kawhi Leonard, Bleacher Report noted.

Durant, Lillard, Tatum, and Booker were part of the Team USA 2020 Summer Games squad that won the gold in Tokyo.

LeBron James has already played three times for the USA in the Olympics. He was part of the US team that won the gold medal in 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London). His other stint was in 2004 in Athens, where Team USA settled for the bronze medal.

Team USA retooling needed?

The IG post comes not long after the United States got shocked by Germany in the 2023 FIBA World Cup semifinal on Friday, 113-111.

Andreas Obst led the Germans with a game-high 24 points, pushing them to the FIBA World Cup final, where they will face Serbia, reported.

The Serbians won over Canada in the other semifinal matchup, 95-86.

With Team USA failing to win anew, the post was likely one of many calls for the team to try and recall the top names to help the team. Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, and Jaren Jackson Jr. were the only legit All-Stars on the roster.

As for James, the 19-time All-Star is in the tail-end of his NBA career, although he has proven he can still play at a high level. Barring any injuries or setbacks, it would be interesting to see LeBron James in the Olympics for perhaps one last time.

Luis Scola is the oldest male basketball player to play in the Olympics at 41. Scola was part of the Argentina team at the Tokyo Olympics, ABC News Australia reported.
