Team USA Eyeing Celtics Star for 2024 Paris Olympics, but It’s Not Jayson Tatum

USA Basketball is bent on making sure that there will be no disappointment for them in the 2024 Paris Olympics. They reportedly have their eyes on another player from the Boston Celtics in Jrue Holiday, per reports.

Team USA is aggressively pursuing the 33-year-old guard, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, who cited sources. Should Jrue Holiday agree, it would be his second tour of duty for the United States Olympic basketball team.

The two-time NBA All-Star was part of the USA squad that won the gold in 2021. Holiday was considered the next impactful player of that team behind Kevin Durant. Further, his defensive prowess is something that Team USA needs.

Team USA needs better defense in Paris

Team USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill is hopeful that Holiday can commit and be part of the 12-man roster. Should he agree, Holiday would be in the company of big names who have signified their intent to play for Team USA at next year’s Paris Olympics.

That list includes LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Durant, Joel Embiid, and Holiday’s new teammate Jayson Tatum.

Holiday had a busy offseason after being traded from one NBA team to another. He was initially part of the Damian Lillard trade and first landed in Portland.
